Shifting sand causing big worries for Broughty Ferry residents
ByThe Courier Reporter
Calls are being made to halt Broughty Ferry’s shifting sand dunes blowing on to neighbouring streets.
More and more sand is being dumped on to the dunes and residents along the Esplanade, Castle Green, Brook Street and Panmure Street have been worst affected.
Dundee City Councillor Laurie Bidwell said he is suggesting steps to improve the dunes which will benefit residents and make the beach more attractive.
He said: “Some of the fencing has deteriorated over the years so it is no longer doing the job it was put in there to do, which was act as a barrier.”
He said work could include repairing the fence, more planting to help hold the sand dunes in place or limiting the access points to the beach.
