Brechin boss Darren Dods has revealed that his side’s two-match winning run came after his players held a team bonding session.
The Glebe gaffer admitted that it is a welcome coincidence that the night out preceded back-to-back victories over Peterhead and then Cowdenbeath at home last week.
He is now hoping his players can make it three wins in a row when they travel to face Stenhousemuir this afternoon.
Dods said: “Last Saturday was really good for us.
“I was absolutely delighted to secure our first win at home for the fans and of course it meant we had made it back-to-back victories after our success at Peterhead the previous week.
“I was also really pleased to get a clean sheet as a defender that is always a priority.
“It is certainly a change from the start of the season when we were struggling on the pitch with several players injured.
“Once again though, I have a fully-fit squad to choose from for our game at Stenhousemuir.
“To be fair to the players, their attitude in training has been first-class since I came to the club but now we have that competition for places to keep everyone on their toes and we also have the confidence boost following our two wins.
“By coincidence, those two victories have come after a night out the lads had a couple of weeks ago.
“We had intended on having a team bonding session in pre-season but it never happened as we just didn’t have the time as we were putting the squad together.
“It is the sort of thing that is beneficial especially at part-time clubs as the lads do not get a chance to really get to know each other, coming to training after work and having to race away afterwards.
“So the night out was definitely needed and it seems to have worked a treat.
“Hopefully, we can now make it three wins in a row and go into the international break on a high.”
