Fife man accused of dealing in tiger claws to face trial

A Fife man is to go on trial for allegedly buying and selling tiger claws.

Gary Whyte, 49, of Anderson Drive, Cowdenbeath, faces two charges under the Control of Trade in Endangered Species Regulations.

Whyte did not appear in person at Dunfermline Sheriff Court but defence solicitor Stephen Morrison submitted not guilty pleas on his behalf.

Whyte denies that on June 29 last year at J & P Auction House, Inglis Lane, Dunfermline, he purchased a box containing tiger claws.

He also denies that between July 19 and 29 at his home he advertised for sale via eBay and sold a quantity of items including tiger claws.

Trial was set for July 28 with an intermediate diet on July 14.
