A drug dealer who battered his girlfriend with a shoe after she confessed she had been cheating on him has been jailed for 20 months.
Brendan McGivern, 34, attacked the woman at her home in Ferguson Park, Blairgowrie, on February 19. He denied the assault charges and a trial began before a jury. But after hearing brief evidence, McGivern changed his plea.
He admitted assaulting the woman by repeatedly pushing her on the body, causing her to strike her head off a headboard, repeatedly slapping her on the head, hitting her with a shoe, and grabbing her neck and pushing her, to her injury.
He also admitted attacking and injuring a 13-year-old girl by grabbing her hair and pushing her.
He had been freed early from a five-year jail term imposed when he was caught with £30,000 of heroin and cocaine in a pink handbag.
Sheriff Lindsay Foulis also imposed a 10-month supervised release period.
