A jilted Angus man’s hate campaign against his former partner included putting a bag of white powder in her bedroom drawer after threatening to tip-off police she was involved in drugs.
Bruce Dalgarno bombarded the woman with phone calls and texts after their long-term relationship broke down.
At Forfar Sheriff Court on Thursday, the 52-year-old was given a 12-month community payback order, including a requirement to complete the Fergus programme for domestic offenders, after admitting a string of threatening behaviour towards his victim in July.
Fiscal depute Hazel Anderson said Dalgarno, of Trinity, near Brechin, had separated with the woman in April 2011 but then around 8am on July 15 phoned her accusing her of making an embarrassment of herself with another man.
The fiscal said that around 6.30am the following day, the woman received the first of what would be 28 further calls lasting until almost 11pm, followed by another five the next day.
Dalgarno then threatened to plant £2,000 of drugs in her home and tell police to raid the house.
A text was sent the following day about something in a boot in the drawer of a child’s room and when the woman went to investigate found a bag of harmless white powder.
