Planning permission has been granted for a trio of wind turbines on farmland north of Whitfield.
The applicant, Lord Dundee, plans to put up the 80-foot turbines at Barns of Wedderburn. They will be visible from Ballumbie Castle golf course to the east and Cheviot Crescent in Fintry to the west.
The nearest homes in Whitfield are around 1,500 feet away.
Agents Ecodyn said: “The proposed development will enable Barns of Wedderburn to secure energy generated from a sustainable source at a cost lower than that paid to import energy derived from fossil fuels.
“For the farm, this green initiative will not only benefit the environment but will bring vital price stability and security of supply to a large consumer of energy with the added benefit of reducing their carbon footprint.
“It requires no ancillary developments and will have no significant adverse or cumulative effects on neighbours, road safety, landscape, communications, aviation or ecology.”
A city council planning officer said: “The supporting information demonstrates that no properties will be affected by shadow flicker and that the turbines will not have an adverse impact on the landscape.
“Given the number of units, their height and location, it is concluded that there will be no unacceptable negative effects resulting from this development.”
