Residents have expressed their fury at motor-bikers who raced around the Hilltown in the early hours of Tuesday.
The racers created huge amounts of noise from their exhausts, waking swathes of residents in the Hilltown area, before heading north towards Bridgefoot.
It is believed the loudest noise occurred at around 5.30am, although residents reported hearing the racers for much of the night.
Those disturbed by the noise took to Facebook to express their irritation with the racket.
“They’ve been driving me crazy this morning,” wrote one resident, while another wrote: “Hope they get caught bloody annoying this morning!!!”
“Yep, not the best wake-up call,” said one irritated resident.
Another resident complained that the noise had scared her cats.
“It frightened the life out of the kittens. I will watch out today though, the noise was deafening,” she wrote.
However, the sound was allegedly so loud that residents reported hearing the noise many streets away.
“Wondered what that noise was I live in Craigowl View and heard them go past the estate, don’t know what on earth they are playing at,” wrote another resident.
Police Scotland said in a statement yesterday that they were working to trace those involved and asked anyone who can assist to contact 101 or speak to any officer.
