Tours of Dundee’s “darker side” will not include stories that will impact on anyone still alive, councillors have been assured.
Organisers of Dark Dundee walking tours gave assurances that they would not be insensitive to those affected as they would be at least 60 years old.
The tours will be operated by Stewart Heaton and Helen-Louise Murphy, who received public entertainment licenses by Dundee City Council.
However, at a recent meeting, Councillor Jimmy Black raised concerns the material might be too close to home for some.
He said: “Dundee certainly has a dark side, but how recent are these stories you are going to tell?
“Will there be any people still alive who will remember?”
Mr Heaton responded: “We won’t be discussing anything from at least the last 60 to 70 years.”
The plan is to take groups of around 10 people on two-hour walking tours of the city.
The tours will begin on the Perth Road and will end at St Mary’s Church, covering about a mile and making stops at places of historical interest.
Participants would be charged before the tour.
The pair said they decided to go ahead with the tours after the person who ran a similar tour left the city, leaving a gap in the market.
