Man appears in court accused of helping William Carlin abscond from Castle Huntly

William Carlin has been missing since November 5.
A man accused of helping an inmate who has absconded from Castle Huntly has appeared in court.
A 51-year-old from the Newcastle area appeared at Perth Sheriff Court on Monday in connection with missing prisoner William Carlin.
The man was remanded in custody and will re-appear at a later date.
Carlin remains at large having failed to return to the open prison on November 5.
Detective Sergeant Keith Duncan said: “Members of the public should be aware that the police will take robust action against any person who is or has been assisting William Carlin in his attempts to evade prison.
“Should you have any information about his current whereabouts, I would urge you to contact Police Scotland on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.”
