Organisers’ sponsorship appeal for Stonehaven Simple Minds gig
ByThe Courier Reporter
The organisers of the Simple Minds Hogmanay concert in Stonehaven will now work closely with police following the decision to give the gig the go ahead.
Police Scotland had objected to the staging of the gig on safety grounds but a public entertainment licence was granted following a meeting of Kincardine and Mearns Community Council.
It unanimously decided to grant the application for the event in 2013/14 only, subject to conditions relating to public safety and event management.
The organisers said they will now work with Police Scotland Area Commander Chief Inspector Janice Innes and her team to ensure they meet the conditions.
David Lawman, vice- chairman of Stonehaven Festival and Events, said: “Now we have to work extra hard to make up for lost time and appeal for much-needed sponsorship.
“We would appeal for any firms interested in supporting us to get in touch,” he added.
