Firefighters were called to a blaze in a derelict building in the James Keillor estate in Mains Loan last night. Crew members from the Macalpine Road station were alerted just before 6.20 to the fire in the empty building. Several members of the public raised the alarm when a black plume of smoke was seen rising into the sky. Crew manager Paul Grant said: “We used one hosereel to extinguish it. There was a canister of oil causing the black smoke.”
