Family and friends have paid further tributes to the teenager who died in an early morning road crash on the outskirts of Kirkcaldy on Friday.
A Facebook page entitled ‘In Loving Memory of Brian Phimister’ has been set up and is being followed by more than 1500 people.
One of the most poignant messages from his mum reads: “Sleep tight my boy. Mum loves and misses you so much. What I would do to have you in my arms. I’d never let you go. This pain I’m feeling is killing me. Nite nite. Love you. Just like we said to each other every night.”
Others have paid tribute to the “good boy” who was taken too soon.
One of Brian’s former teachers, Laura MacMillan, said: “Very sad to hear the news of Brian’s passing. I taught him at Balwearie when he was in S1-3. Thoughts go out to all family and friends who are grieving at this time.”
Samy Sambo said: “I didn’t know Brian but we shared the same circles with being into the car scene.
“I can’t imagine the pain that you and your family are dealing with right now but you have a lot of people thinking about you. From what I’ve heard he was a popular lad and all round nice guy. I hope that in time life gets easier for you all. My thoughts go out to you and everyone who had the privilege of knowing Brian.”
Sixteen-year-old Brian, of Kirkcaldy, died at the scene after the BMW 3 Series car he was travelling in smashed into a tree on the A955 on a 40mph road stretch between Dysart and Coaltown of Wemyss at about 12.50am on Friday.
The former Balwearie High School and Adam Smith College student, who was a passenger, was pronounced dead at the scene, while the 18-year-old male driver suffered what police described as “serious” injuries and was taken to Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy for further treatment.
Police could not give an update on his condition but his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
On Friday, Brian’s heartbroken father John, who is the owner of JP Removals and Storage in Kirkcaldy, spoke of the “nightmare” of his son’s loss.
He has continued posting moving messages on Facebook to tell how he is in “agony and torment” and is “falling apart”.
Police have appealed for witnesses. Inquiries are continuing and a report has been sent to the procurator fiscal.
