A construction worker swigged from a bottle of Buckfast while at the wheel of a van filled with work colleagues on the M90.
Thomas Dow was spotted by police near Kinross while driving a works vehicle south from Aberdeenshire.
Perth Sheriff Court heard that when the 31-year-old had his blood tested it was found that he was over the legal limit.
Dow, of Fraser Avenue, Inverkeithing, admitted that on October 25 last year he drove the van on the M90 Perth to Inverkeithing road with a blood alcohol level of 94mg per 100ml. The legal limit is 80.
Sheriff William Wood told Dow he took “a dim view” of drink-driving and banned him from the roads for 12 months and ordered that he carry out 100 hours of unpaid work.
