Sampling his own product proved to be the downfall of an aspiring drug dealer.
After being spotted acting suspiciously at the T in the Park music festival, Callum Campbell was taken aside by police officers.
As he waited in a makeshift holding room on the Kinross site, the 20-year-old started “fidgeting” and “moving in a strange fashion”, before dropping his stash.
Campbell, of Cresswell Street, Liverpool, admitted that between July 12 and 15, at T in the Park, he was concerned in the supply of cocaine.
Sheriff Michael Fletcher sentenced him to six months in detention. Perth Sheriff Court heard how a bag of white powder was spotted lying on the floor under his chair.
It was later analysed and found to contain 6.68 grammes of cocaine, worth £330.
Solicitor David Sinclair revealed his client had been given the tickets to last year’s festival as a birthday present and decided to make the most of his gift.
He said: “He saw the opportunity for financial gain in distributing drugs.”
Mr Sinclair said Campbell spent £400 on the class A drug and ended up seriously out of pocket, adding: “He is remorseful.”
