Police have issued a warning after a range of imitation firearms was stolen from a car in Cowdenbeath.
Police say the Airsoft weapons are designed to look like real firearms and only registered users, film and television production companies and battle re-enactors are permitted to possess them.
The weapons were stolen from a Ford Focus parked in Morrison’s car park between 6pm and 10pm on Saturday.
The haul included assault rifles, a shotgun and a pistol.
Inspector Ken Chatham said: “While the Airsoft weapons cannot fire live ammunition, they are designed to look like real firearms and may cause distress and alarm if used inappropriately.
“Anyone who believes they have seen these weapons since their theft on Saturday is asked to come forward.
“Similarly, anyone who remembers seeing any suspicious activity in the Morrison’s car park over the weekend is also asked to get in touch.”
The weapons are only capable of firing BB rounds and need batteries, which were not with the items when stolen.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101.
