New Dundee loan signing from Motherwell Adam Cummins has declared himself determined to help his new club win the Championship title.
The 20-year-old defender became Dark Blues boss John Brown’s first capture of the transfer window and goes straight into the squad for the game against Livingston.
Cummins, who was formerly a youth star with Everton, won the Motherwell Young Player of the Year award last year however he has found his first-team chances limited this season and is desperate for competitive action.
Dundee chief executive Scot Gardiner welcomed the new addition to Dens and insisted the club are working hard to bring in more fresh faces.
He said: “We’re delighted to have signed Adam. We’ve been watching him closely and hopefully he’s not the last quality player to join us during the transfer window,”
Cummins, who ironically played for Motherwell when they won at Dens last season, added: “I’ve had to be patient waiting for a chance as our back four have all performed so well this season.
“I also had one or two niggling injuries at the start of the season, which didn’t help.
“Going to Dundee will give me a good opportunity to get games and get sharp again. They are a really good club, fighting for promotion back to the Premiership.
“My aim is to go there, play well and hopefully help them win the league.”
Meanwhile, former Hearts striker Christian Nade continues to train at Dens and boss Brown admits he is looking to further assess the player next week before deciding whether to pursue his interest.
He said: “We’re going to try to get a bounce game for Nade next week with a view to having a look at him. He’s only been here training for a few days.”
As well as Cummins’ signing, Brown received further good news with the return of first-choice Dark Blues keeper Kyle Letheren to training after he had to be stretchered off last week against Raith Rovers suffering from concussion.
The manager added: “Kyle is OK. He’s had his first day back in training and there’s been no reaction so far. Hopefully it stays like that.”
Brown is fully aware of just how difficult Saturday’s game will be as not only were Dundee beaten by Livingston the last time they played them at Almondvale, he is a big admirer of their manager John McGlynn and the turnaround in fortunes he has manufactured at the club since he replaced Richie Burke in September.
