Police object to later openings for takeaways in Dundee

Police in Dundee are objecting to bids by two city centre takeaways to stay open until up to 4am.
Pizza De Roma in Seagate and the Discovery Fish & Pizza Bar in Nethergate currently open until 2.30am. Ramsay Maged El-Nakla has applied to take over Pizza De Roma and wants to open the business until 3.30am all week.
Francis Tindall wants to open the Discovery Fish & Pizza Bar until 4am.
The police have written to the licensing committee reminding them of the policy restricting the operation of late hours catering premises within the Marketgait ring road to 2.30am.
The closing time of late hours catering premises impacts on the community, the police say, and “can create an environment of noise, violence and disturbance which, by restricting the availability of these premises after 2.30am, reduces instances of such behaviour.”
The licensing committee will consider the cases at their meeting on Thursday along with an application by Teyfik Cetinkaya to open Khans in Brook Street, Broughty Ferry, until 3am on Fridays and Saturdays and 3.30am during seasonal variations.
