Fond tributes have been paid to former NHS Tayside chairman Sandy Watson in the chamber of Angus Council where he served as chief executive for a decade.
Mr Watson died late last month following a short illness, at the age of 70.
At the first full Angus Council meeting since his death, Angus Provost Helen Oswald led tributes to the former teacher who was appointed as the first chief executive of the new Angus Council on its formation in the mid 1990s.
Mrs Oswald said everyone in the chamber had been shocked and greatly saddened by his death.
“He was a great friend and support to Angus Council, and for that we are extremely grateful,” said the provost.
Professor John Connell has been appointed as Mr Watson’s successor in the NHS Tayside chairman’s role.
Professor Connell was dean of the school of medicine at Dundee University from 2009 to 2012 and head of the College of Medicine, Dentistry and Nursing and vice-principal for research until 2015.
