A 19-year-old man has been charged in connection with road traffic offences after a stolen car was found submerged in a burn in Dundee.
A major emergency services operation was launched when a silver Vauxhall Corsa was discovered in the Dighty Burn near Fintry Road on Tuesday morning.
Police and rescue crews were on the scene from around 8am until early afternoon, searching for potential casualties and lifting the car out of the water with the help of a crane.
A section of Fintry Road starting from the junction with Fountainbleu Drive was shut for most of the day, causing major traffic disruption including to bus timetables.
The footbridge going over the burn beside Fintry Road was also cordoned off during the emergency response.
A police spokeswoman said: “Police Scotland can confirm that a 19-year-old man has been charged in connection with road traffic offences, following the recovery of a car near Fintry Road yesterday.
“A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.”
