The popular Arbroath West community bobbie is enjoying a modest celebrity status after his win in front of a worldwide TV audience on Sunday. Darren won a tense final against Mervyn King, cheered on by a Tartan Army in Great Yarmouth which included wife Linsey and daughters Isla and Evie. Today he showed off his world indoor singles bowling championship trophy at Arbroath Police Office as he adjusted to life back on the beat. “Everything happened so quickly and it’s still sinking in,” he said. “It has always been my dream to win the world title but I’ve not had a chance to take it all in. “I’m going to Blackpool at the end of the week for the final event of the season, so it’s a quick turnaround. “Once that event is over I think the magnitude of what’s happened will start to sink in.” Darren said his life’s dream was to lift the world trophy and now he wants to go on and lift Commonwealth gold in Glasgow this summer.
