A woman has been rescued from Loch Ness after crashing off the road into the water of the famous landmark.
The accident happened on the A82 near Invermoriston just before 8pm yesterday when the car went down an embankment.
Police, fire and coastguard teams were called to the scene and Loch Ness lifeboat team was also alerted.
The lifeboat crew said access to the loch is difficult from the roadside but emergency services managed to free the woman from the car, which is now almost entirely submerged, and she taken to hospital for treatment.
Lifeboat volunteer Neil Stebbings said: “It was totally dark and the water was extremely cold, so it was vital to get to the scene as quickly and safely as possible to contribute to the combined rescue efforts.”
