A Christmas Day blaze in Perth forced families out of their homes.
Residents of Pomarium Street had to evacuate the block of flats when fire broke out in a rubbish chute.
Many fled their homes carrying their Christmas presents and lunch as they attempted to carry on the festivities elsewhere.
Firefighters rushed to the scene at around 12pm and quickly extinguished the flames, but the building’s electricity meters sustained significant damage.
Properties on the upper floors of the Pomarium Flats were left without power, and tenants were advised to find accommodation elsewhere.
A Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Three appliances from Perth attended and used a hosereel and breathing apparatus. One person had to be given oxygen.
“We are now carrying out an investigation into the cause of the fire.”
Police officers are also assisting with inquiries. Housing officers from Perth and Kinross Council went door-to-door, ensuring residents had somewhere else to go.
Most tenants were able to stay with relatives, although an emergency advice centre was set up at Greyfriars House for those in desperate need of accommodation.
A spokeswoman from SSE said repairs would have to be carried out to both the energy firm’s and the local authority’s equipment before people could be allowed to return home.
She said: “This is until further notice. With it being Christmas Day, we don’t know how long it’s going to be.
“When residents do return home, they should contact SSE’s emergency line on 0800 300999.”
