The bridge over the A85 on the outskirts of Perth will be closed over the weekend, as the latest part of a £600,000 project gets under way.
From 11pm on Saturday until 5am on Monday, the A85 Crieff overbridge will be closed to vehicles, although pedestrians and cyclists can continue to use the crossing.
During this time, eastbound traffic entering Perth will be diverted via the Inveralmond roundabout, while westbound motorists will be diverted via Broxden. In a bid to minimise disruption, the southbound A9 on-slip behind Tesco will reopen.
Andy Thompson, representative for operating company BEAR Scotland, said: “The A9 is an important link road connecting the central belt to the north of Scotland.
“This bridge maintenance project will help to ensure that this section of the road will continue to operate safely and effectively for all road users.
“The temporary traffic management arrangement has been designed to minimise delays to motorists, while also protecting the workforce.
“The works have been programmed to avoid major local events and local businesses will remain open as usual.”
Motorists are urged to allow extra time for their journey and to pay attention to diversion signs.
