The man behind the plan to convert Perth City Hall into a boutique hotel, Simon Wilson, has died at 49.
The Kinross developer, a director of the Seventy Group, died after a short illness. He was involved with a number of housing projects in Kinross and also recently refurbished Kinross Town Hall.
Mr Wilson was the face of the bid to convert Perth City Hall into a hotel and spoke of his disappointment only a few weeks ago when the council delayed a decision on his and a rival bid to secure the future of the listed building.
Local councillor Joe Giacopazzi said he was “deeply shocked” by the death of Mr Wilson, whom he had known for a long time, and said he believed his work on Kinross Town Hall would be his legacy. “I can think of no greater tribute to him than what he’s left behind on the Kinross-shire landscape,” he said.
