Dundee United’s selection crisis has intensified as they prepare to welcome championship-chasing Celtic.
The Tangerines will be without Paul Paton, Ryan Dow and Mario Bilate for the rest of the season because of injury.
Also, Nadir Ciftci will miss the visit of the Hoops to Tannadice tomorrow because of suspension.
To make matters worse, manager Jackie McNamara revealed that there could be another couple of casualties.
He said: “Calum Butcher is doubtful with a shoulder injury he picked up at Pittodrie last week.
“Also, we will have see how John Souttar is because he has picked up the same kind of virus that affected Aidan Connolly last week.
“You also have to factor in that Paton, Dow and Bilate are all out for the season.
“But you just have to get on with it.”
McNamara is looking forward to welcoming back former players Gary Mackay-Steven and Stuart Armstrong to Tannadice but he hopes they don’t enjoy their return trip.
“It will be good to see them but hopefully they won’t cause us any problems,” said McNamara.
“We want to try and keep them quiet.
“Gaz scored the first goal at Celtic Park against us and it was a great strike.
“Both have done really well since going there.
“I wouldn’t see them wanting to do any better than any other ex-player going back to an old club.
“I said before that both are really good players and that’s why they are there.”
