Islamophobia probe councillor Craig Melville misses constituency surgery

An embattled Dundee councillor at the centre of a race hate row has dodged constituents as well as official meetings for a second week.
Maryfield councillor Craig Melville has failed to fulfil any of his public duties since he became embroiled in an Islamophobia scandal just over a week ago.
He has been suspended from the SNP but continues to be a Dundee councillor despite failing to turn up to committee meetings on Monday.
It is understood he returned to Dundee this week.
He was due to hold a surgery for constituents from 2pm on Tuesday but there was no sign of him when The Courier visited.
The row, which is still being investigated by police, centres on a series of text messages sent to a female member of the SNP.
