Dozens of Dundonians flocked to Broughty Ferry Esplanade on Saturday night in the hope of securing VIP TV tickets.
Four couches were placed at mystery sites throughout the UK as part of popular variety show, Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway.
After the couches revealed on-screen as part of the “Best Seats in the House” contest, locals were challenged to sit on the seats until a winner was announced.
Live streams were set up at the sites, showing viewers at home the hopeful participants congregating on and around the sofa.
Although a viewer from Caerphilly, South Wales, was randomly selected as the competition winner, confirmation that the famous couch had visited Tayside caused quite a stir online.
Several youngsters hoping to secure VIP tickets to be a part of the ITV studio audience for the show’s live broadcast tweeted their dismay that the opportunity had slipped through their fingers.

Frustrated local, Fraser Rennie said: “Can’t believe Ant and Dec are in Dundee. Can’t believe I didn’t go down.”
Hannah Kinnaird tweeted: “There’s an Ant and Dec couch in Dundee. I’m so sad, why did I move?”
Rachel Burdin added: “Imagine Ant and Dec putting Dundee on the map. Bless.”
The competition asks viewers if they recognise any of the sites where sofas are located.
Participants are then given until 8pm to track the couches down.
The first episode of the popular Geordie duo’s new season went off with a bang after Daniel Garnham proposed to girlfriend Victoria Haynes, live on national TV, having flown over from New York to pop the question.
The grand romantic gesture has left Ms Haynes “on cloud nine”, she said.
“This is incredible,” she said. “I don’t feel like it’s real. I’m sure I’ll wake up tomorrow with 100 messages on my phone and it’ll start sinking, in but at the moment I’m just living the dream.”
She added: “It’s the best day of my life, absolutely no question.”
Ms Haynes’ parents were on stage with them as she tearfully said yes.
