Arbroath boss Todd Lumsden is looking to come up with the magic formula that will see his side grab goals again, without putting too much of the onus on young strikers Kane Hester and Josh Skelly.
The Gayfield side have only scored twice in their last four games and, with main striker Greg Rutherford still out injured, Lumsden is hoping the performance in the final third against East Stirling in midweek will be rewarded with goals against the Bully Wee.
Lumsden said: “Tuesday night’s performance got better the longer the game went on. However, we could not get the ball over the line.”
He added: “We did not create much against either East Fife or Queen’s Park but things are moving in the right direction, although I recognise that we need to start scoring.
“Greg was a big player for us before he got injured, and whilst Kane and Josh have done well we have to be careful with them as they are just learning what is required to play at this level every week.”
Lumsden added: “It can be tough and you do not want to burn them out. It is a big ask for them to lead the line, but hopefully they can do that against Clyde and get a goal to mark their progression.”
“We beat Clyde at their place in the last meeting with two late goals, but they won at Gayfield earlier in the season. They had a good win at Stirling in midweek and will be delighted with that, especially after beating Berwick last Saturday as well.”
As well as improving offensively the Red Lichties manager is looking for his defence to stand strong, as he added: “Clyde have a good and a big squad both in terms of ability and size. Marvin Andrews, Chris Smith, David Marsh and John Gemmell are all over 6ft, and we need to stand up to that physical challenge. “
As well as Rutherford remaining out, Craig Johnstone and David Gold are missing through injury.
Jamie Reid should shake off a knock to play, and on-loan Aberdeen midfielder Jamie Henry is available after a one match ban.
