Police have made a renewed bid for help as they hunt a hit-and-run driver who knocked down a schoolgirl in Dundee.
It is now six days since 12-year-old Regan Caie was thrown into the air as she was struck by a vehicle running a red light on Arbroath Road.
The Craigie High School pupil sustained tissue damage and a bloody nose following the incident, which took place at 8.25am last Wednesday.
Police Scotland have been hunting the woman behind the wheel, who added insult to injury by shouting abuse at the injured youngster as she lay on the pavement.
She then made off, without checking on Regan’s health, as other motorists sounded their horns and passersby shouted after the car.
The police say their inquiries are ongoing, with the driver yet to be traced.
The woman is said to be aged between 40 and 50, with dark and frizzy hair.
She was wearing thick-rimmed glasses. At the time of the incident she was driving a small red car, with a baby seat in the rear, near-side seat.
It is not known what kind of car was involved, although it is believed it may have been a Vauxhall Corsa.
It is understood there were numerous motorists and pedestrians in the area at the time and there may have been a number of witnesses.
Regan was left shaken by the incident, while mum Stacey told The Courier she was outraged by the driver’s actions.
The police are urging anyone with information who has not already spoken to an officer to get in touch.
A spokeswoman said: “We were advised that Regan was hit by a car on the Arbroath Road at around 8.25am on Wednesday September 2.
“She was crossing with the green man showing and the crossing signal beeping.
“The car drove through the red light and struck the girl, knocking her back on to the pavement.”
Anyone who may have witnessed the incident and can assist officers with their investigations is asked to call Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
