LDC’s UK Mid-Market Barometer tracks deals worth between £5m and £150m, and the new report found a mixed picture across Britain last year. A total of 12 deals which fit into the category were made in Scotland, up from 10 in 2011, but the total value grew by around 80% from £124m to £225m. The majority of the uplift was due to increased investment in the North Sea oil and gas sector. In the UK as a whole, the first six months were positive for deal-making. However, activity dropped off during the second half of the year. The number of mid-market deals made was 203 up from 190 in 2011, with the value increasing from £5.8bn to £8.8bn.
