EAST FIFE boss Gary Naysmith has told his side that it’s “time to stand up and be counted”.
The Fifers still hold on to the final League Two play-off spot despite defeat at Clyde on Saturday.
Results elsewhere went their way to an extent but the Bayview gaffer says his team can’t keep expecting favours from other sides.
He said: “Every game we’ll play from now until the end of the season will be against a side who has something to play for.
“On Saturday it’s Albion who are going for the league and then Annan, Berwick and Elgin who are all trying to challenge us.
“So it’s time to roll the sleeves up and stand up and be counted.
“We’ve had chances to pull away but we haven’t taken them.
“Now we just have to make sure we do the business ourselves in the remaining games.”
The Fifers started the better of the two and kept the home side penned in their own half.
Kevin Smith and Nathan Austin were causing problems for the Clyde defence with both having chances to break the deadlock.
At the other end former Fife midfielder Jamie Pollock tested Jordan Millar with an effort from distance.
The visitors passed up a great chance to open the scoring when Austin was brought down in the box by Clyde keeper Alan Martin.
Allan Walker took responsibility for taking the penalty kick but Martin redeemed himself by saving low to his right.
Clyde knew they had to take something from the game to have a realistic chance of catching the fourth-placed Fifers and getting into the play-offs.
They pressed for the opener and, when it did arrive in 70 minutes, it was sloppy from East Fife’s point of view.
Steven McDougall’s corner wasn’t cleared and Scott McManus headed home from six yards.
