‘It’s amazing’ First crew join HMS Prince of Wales aircraft carrier

The second of two Royal Navy aircraft carriers being built in Rosyth welcomed its first crew members today.
Twelve personnel were formally appointed to the HMS Prince of Wales, four years before it is expected to enter service.
Among the first crew to be assigned to the vessel is Lieutenant Commander Angela Armour, originally from Dundee.
Having transferred from the Prince of Wales’ sister ship, the Queen Elizabeth, the former St John’s High pupil said her appointment on the Royal Navy’s latest carrier is a huge thrill.
Angela is responsible for ensuring that all crew members are suitably trained when the vessel sets sail.

Asked how she felt about her new role, she told The Courier: “It’s fantastic. I’ve spent the past 14 months working with the Queen Elizabeth company and I’ve seen it and the ship grow so it’s amazing to be here, back at the beginning of the Prince of Wales’ journey.”
The Courier was granted access to the ship as construction continues at a lightning pace.
