St Stephen’s Primary developer moves on to new project

The developer who shelved plans to breathe new life into the former St Stephen’s RC Primary School building in Blairgowrie has put the finishing touches to a string of luxury apartments in Arbroath.
Dundee firm Carling Property Group has carried out the makeover of the upper two floors of the Bank of Scotland building on Brothock Bridge in the Angus town, which dates back to the 19th Century.
Plans for Carling Property Group to convert the former St Stephen’s school into affordable housing recently fell through after their application for £400,000 in funding from the Scottish Government’s Empty Homes Loan Fund was unsuccessful.
Their plan sought to turn the B-listed building into eight homes and the company has now put the property back on the market.
Developer Graeme Carling said: “We’re disappointed we had to abandon the St Stephen’s project because that means overall we are unable to supply 25 affordable housing units for the people of Perthshire, Dundee and Angus.”
