(Click arrow for more photos) Fire crews were called to George Street on Saturday after a small fire broke out in the basement of a building. The incident was initially reported at 5.30pm as a chimney fire and smoke could be seen rising from the roof. Five appliances from Perth, Coupar Angus, Newburgh and Auchterarder attended. Police are continuing to investigate another fire in the city centre earlier in the week. The derelict Waverley Hotel’s roof was badly damaged when a blaze took hold on Tuesday night. That fire is being treated as suspicious. Photos by Stuart Cowper Photography.
