Police are hunting a con artist selling scam tickets to 80s music festival Rewind on Facebook.
Officers are trying to trace those behind the fraud after a number of people hoping to attend the festival at Scone Palace were left hundreds of pounds out of pocket.
One woman claimed she lost £100 in the scam and that she knew of friends who had also been tricked by the same swindler.
Posting on Facebook to try to spread the word about the fraud, the woman said: “I was stupid to trust him but life is too short.”
A spokeswoman for Perth and Kinross Community Watch said: “Please be aware of fraudulent tickets being sold on the internet through social networking sites for this year’s Rewind festival taking place between July 24 and July 26 at Scone Palace, Perth.
“Unfortunately, we have received reports from residents in Perth and Kinross who have already fallen victim to this crime.”
Last year more than 30,000 people packed out the palace grounds for the open-air 1980s extravaganza.
The popular festival, which is now entering its fifth year, will play host to stars from yesteryear.
They include Bananarama, Jimmy Somerville, Hue and Cry, Sister Sledge, Belinda Carlisle and Kim Wilde.
Rewind Festival organisers said: “It has come to our notice in recent days of a couple of incidents of people selling either fake tickets or simply getting money for tickets and not delivering.
“Please, please do not buy tickets from people you don’t know. Be very careful of people that you only know through Facebook. We don’t want you to get ripped off.”
A spokeswoman for Police Scotland added: “Police Scotland can confirm we have received a report of fraudulent activity and inquiries are ongoing.”
A number of official tickets are still available.
