A man has been left with serious injuries after he was deliberately hit by a car, according to police.
The incident, which happened in Rutherglen, South Lanarkshire, on Friday, is being treated as attempted murder.
Police were called to the scene at 3.45pm after a report that a man had been injured behind a business premises in Kyle Square.
It is understood that he was struck by a white Skoda Octavia with the registration plate SG07 AAY.
The car was later recovered in Croftmont Avenue in the south side of Glasgow.
The 63-year-old victim was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in the city with serious injuries to his legs.
Hospital staff describe his condition as serious but stable.
Detective Inspector Donna Duffy said: “We are confident that this was a targeted attack on the victim who has been left with life-changing injuries.
“A dedicated team of officers are working on this inquiry to establish who is responsible and there will be additional patrols around the area to provide reassurance to the local community.
“I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident or saw the car involved leaving the scene to contact police.
“I would also ask anyone who noticed the car parked in Croftmont Avenue or anyone acting suspiciously in the area to get in touch.”
