The Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) is to close its Perth Road branch in June.
The bank told Dundee City West MSP Joe FitzPatrick that the number of customers using the branch has been dropping in the past few years.
Customers will be able to use their debit cards at the nearby post office to withdraw cash, check balances or pay bills free of charge.
Mr FitzPatrick said: “I am disappointed that RBS have taken the decision to close their Perth Road branch and am contacting management to arrange an urgent meeting to discuss the implications of the branch closure on staff and customers. I will be seeking to investigate what impact the branch closure will have on my constituents, as staff members and customers and the public in Dundee West, at the earliest opportunity.”
Last November, the bank’s chief executive, Ross McEwan, said the number of transactions being carried out in its branch network had fallen by 30% since 2010.
He said RBS was planning a fundamental change to the way it did business, with extra investment in cash machines able to provide a wider range of services and efforts to help customers do their banking in new ways.
