The item, described by police as inert concrete filled with munitions, was discovered by a walker near St Monans in the morning. A Royal Navy mine disposal team arrived in the East Neuk village to deal with the object at Newark Castle at around 11am. The coastguard and police officers were also at the scene. The incident was dealt with very quickly and no one was injured.
