A callous “Christmas Scrooge” stole carefully wrapped presents from a car boot while their generous owner was working as a carer in a nearby house.
Police are hunting the thief who targeted the vehicle parked on Pentland Drive in Kennoway, on Monday night.
The victim of the heartless crime told The Courier how the incident had left her “face sore with tears”.
Kirsty Fair, 47, a support worker for Kingdom Housing, working with vulnerable adults, told The Courier how she had parked her black Suzuki Vitara overnight while she was working.
Having wrapped her presents intended for family and friends, and with an estimated value of £1,000, she placed them in the boot of the car and returned to look after her client.
But when she returned home the following morning, she discovered that all of the presents had been stolen. The gifts included clothes, alcohol and electrical items.
Kirsty said: “At first I was shocked and stared at the empty boot for a minute. I’ve cried for two days since. My face is sore, my eyes are sore I can’t believe anyone can be so cruel.”
She said police had told her they believe she may have been watched as she loaded her car.
She had experienced problems with the driver’s door lock but was not aware of a problem with the lock on the boot.
Inspector Donald Jenks appealed for help to catch the thief.
He said: “Can you help the police at Levenmouth catch the Christmas Scrooge who stole presents from a car parked on Pentland Drive overnight on Monday/Tuesday?
“The theft happened some time between 4pm and 8.30am the following morning.”
