The Scottish SPCA’s rescue centre at Petterden is seeking a new home for 10 rabbits.
The centre has taken in 13 rabbits since the start of the year but still has 10 it needs to find new places to live.
A spokesman for the Scottish SPCA said that people may be deterred from taking one home over winter as they fear the weather is too cold fo the animals, which are often kept as outdoor pets,
However, he added rabbits can make good house-pets and can even be trained to use a litter tray.
The centre has five bunnies aged around six months old as well as five older rabbits.
“While we never encourage impulsive rehoming, we would like to invite anyone who thinks they have the time and commitment to look after a rabbit to get in touch,” said the spokesman.
The Petterden centre is open from 10am to 4pm seven days a week and can be called on 03000 999 999.
