Plea for anglers’ help in search for missing OAP William Elder
ByThe Courier Reporter
Anglers are being asked to help in the search for a pensioner who has been missing from his home for a week.
Police say 81-year-old William Elder was a keen fisherman and are urging anyone who knew him through the hobby to get in touch.
Mr Elder has been missing from his home in the James Court sheltered housing complex in Pitlochry since 10.45am last Tuesday.
Last week police drafted in search dogs to assist with the hunt but this was unsuccessful. They have also been reviewing CCTV to establish Mr Elder’s movements.
A police spokeswoman said his disappearance was “out of character” and that there is “considerable concern” for his welfare due to his age.
She said: “Officers are keen to speak with anyone who may have seen him in and around the area of Pitlochry town centre.”
