A former Dundee woman watched in horror as flames leapt from the wing of a plane as it readied for take-off.
Jen Ballie was on a plane preparing to leave from Edinburgh Airport to San Francisco via Paris when the incident happened on Tuesday morning.
Ms Ballie, a graduate of Duncan of Jordanstone art college who is studying for her PhD at the University of Arts in London, described the incident as ”so scary” on Twitter. Another passenger, Craig Wright, described a 20ft flame coming from one of the wings.
A spokeswoman for Edinburgh Airport said: ”There was a technical problem on the Air France flight as they were taxiing out.”
Three fire engines attended the incident. The plane had not left the ground when the wing caught fire.
Passengers were taken from the aircraft and put on later flights.
