A lorry driver has cheated death when his tanker plunged 40ft down an embankment after sliding off an icy road. The accident happened on the A977 at Powmill, near Kinross, in the early hours of Wednesday morning. Emergency services attended the scene shortly after 3.45am to find the tanker lying in the garden of a Powmill house at the bottom of the embankment. The vehicle had narrowly missed crushing a slide and swings that were situated in the homeowner’s garden. The driver is understood to be Kenny McNicol, 42, who works for Fuel Transport Solutions and has two young children. Mr McNicol suffered a head injury in the accident but escaped any serious injury.
