Armed police respond to report of man with gun near school

Armed police have been called to a “report of man with a gun” in a street close to a primary school.
Officers were called to Dornoch Place, Bishopbriggs, East Dunbartonshire, at about 3.10pm today.
The street is close to St Helen’s Primary School and Bishopbriggs Academy.
A Police Scotland statement said: “Extensive enquiries are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances.
“Additional police patrols are in the area to provide public reassurance.”
Gordon Currie, director of education and children’s services at East Dunbartonshire Council, said: “East Dunbartonshire Council has received reports of an incident which allegedly took place today in Bishopbriggs.
“As it is a Police Scotland matter, it would be inappropriate for us to comment further.”
