Dundee United’s fans have been asked to make the Tannadice atmosphere extra special for the match against Partick Thistle.

Tangerines chairman Stephen Thompson has been pleased to see and hear the United supporters rally around manager Mixu Paatelainen and his players as they fight to get off bottom spot in the Premiership.

The results haven’t been what those fans would have wanted but Thompson believes there are signs of progress on the park.

United host the Jags tomorrow in what is a hugely important fixture.

Thompson is hoping that the home supporters go the extra mile to roar the team on to what is hoped will be the first of several victories that can give them a chance of catching the teams, including Partick, that sit above them.

The Tannadice chairman said: “I know things aren’t great just now and that it is a difficult time to be a United fan.

“So I really appreciate the support we have been getting.

“This is a time for everyone to be together.

“The supporters make a difference when they really get right behind the players and I would ask that they make a big difference on Saturday.

“I know that Mixu and the players are doing absolutely everything they can to get the results we need.

“Indeed, all of us at the club are working hard to improve the side.

“We have brought in new players and I would say that we are certainly getting better as a team.

“This is a big, big match for United and the supporters can play a huge part in helping us win it.”
