Tough test of Cowdenbeath’s improvement

Tough test of Cowdenbeath’s improvement

Cowdenbeath manager Colin Nish believes his side’s improvement will receive its toughest test when they face Ayr United tonight.

The last time the teams met a 5-0 win for the Honest Men put them to the top of League One, and the Blue Brazil bottom.

However Nish’s men have won four and drawn two of their eight games since to move to the fringes of the promotion play-offs.

Nish said: “That was a disappointing afternoon as Ayr scored early on and we never recovered. Our performances and results have improved since then apart from the Peterhead game at their place where we lost heavily.

“Looking back it has been a decent run since that Ayr game and hopefully it will continue.

“We know however that this will be tricky as then will see this as an opportunity to close the six-point gap Dunfermline have stolen on them. We are at home and that gives us a better chance especially as we are determined to stretch our unbeaten run at Central Park into 2016.”

Lewis Milne could make a return from injury on the bench however Jack Beaumont and Kyle Miller remain out.
