Plans to turn former Reform Street bank into restaurant
ByGrant Smith
Developers want to turn a disused city centre bank into a restaurant.
The former Santander branch in Reform Street has been empty for more than a year, and JR Johnston Properties has bought the premises, which are part of a B-listed building.
In a submission to the city council, their planning agents Suller & Clark said: “Currently on Reform Street there are seven vacant properties.
“The street is in need of new investment and any new uses should be encouraged.
“The applicant has purchased the ground and basement of the building and seeks a change of use application at this time in order that the premises can be marketed to a wider range of potential users.”
Should consent be granted, a further application would follow if a tenant required internal or external alterations.
