A homecoming parade for Grand National winner Ryan Mania is set to take place in his home town.
The jockey was injured in a fall during a race at Hexham, Northumberland, on Sunday. The event in Galashiels, in the Scottish Borders, is expected to take place tonight and will start with a reception at a restaurant.
Mania will then embark on a parade through the town to greet residents, who are expected to turn out in force. The 23-year-old won Saturday’s Grand National at Aintree on Auroras Encore, which was a 66-1 outsider.
But after a heavy fall at Hexham, he was taken by air ambulance to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle.
