Police in Fife have told drivers to ensure their vehicles are left secure following a number of thefts from cars and vans in Kirkcaldy over recent weeks.
A number of vans that were parked in the West Torbain, Black Craigs and Craigmount areas of Kirkcaldy were broken into and tools stolen.
Enquiries are continuing into these thefts but police are now issuing safety advice to make sure your valuables are secure.
Sergeant Jimmy Adamson said: “There are a number of steps you can take to secure the property within your vehicle. When you leave your car parked, we advise that you lock all items out of sight, or take all valuables with you. Leave the glove box empty and open and if you have a sat nav, hide the cradle and take the system with you.
“Keep your car off the street if possible, either by using your garage or driveway. If parking on street, choose a well-lit, busy area with CCTV cover if possible.
“You can also permanently mark any valuables in your vehicle, such as work tools, with your post code and name, This can then be registered at www.immobilise.com.”
