Tayside minister the Rev Alastair Keddie

Tayside minister the Rev Alastair Keddie has died following a long battle with cancer. He was 75.

He was born and raised in Glasgow and attended Glasgow Bible Teaching Institute where he met his future wife Elizabeth.

The couple married in 1971 and had three children Fiona, Gordon and Stuart.

The family moved to Perth in 1976, where Mr Keddie worked with the social work team at Perth Prison before himself graduating as a social worker.

During the 1980s, he moved to Broughty Ferry, then Forfar, and was community service organiser for the then Tayside Regional Council.

Mr Keddie spent his whole life telling people about Jesus Christ and guiding them towards the Christian faith.

He completed his theological training at New College, Edinburgh, in 1993 and became minister at Ebenezer Congregational Church in Airdrie the following year.

He was minister at Dundee Congregational Church in 2001, before retiring in 2008.

In his later years he continued to minister at Carnoustie United Free Church along with various churches in Arbroath.

Mr Keddie is survived by his wife, children and eight grandchildren. His funeral will be held at Dundee Congregational Church on Monday at 11am, followed by Arbroath Western Cemetery and Arbroath Town Mission.
